Tariff Increase – 25%

As you have heard the President of the United States has threatened to increase the additional duties on “List 3” items from 10% to 25% beginning Friday, May 10th. As of this morning, US Customs has made the necessary changes to their database so that is a good sign that the increase will take place. The only saving grace is that the duties will NOT apply to goods already in transit to the United States. You can read the complete Federal Register notice which states in the Annex section “with respect to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time on May 10, 2019, and exported to the United States on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time on May 10, 2019” – the keyword being AND.
