GOOD NEWS – The strike has been avoided. Both sides have agreed to a 90 day extension and will continue to negotiate.

According to todays reports the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) has sent a letter urging both parties to continue talks and resolve the dispute before the September 30th deadline.
The last strike here on the East Coast was in 2010 and lasted 2 days. If the workers choose to strike the week of September 30th there will be additional problems caused by the Columbus Day holiday on the following Monday – October 8th. The strike will affect ports from Canada down to Texas including New Jersey, Charleston, Savannah, Norfolk and other major ports on the East Coast.
