Year of the Groundhog?
To our valued business friends,
With the Chinese and Lunar New Year being just one day away from Groundhog Day I thought I would share some “updated” lyrics to everyone’s favorite movie theme song (Rocky III 1982). That should be read as one phrase by the way “favorite movie theme song” rather than “favorite movie” theme song because we all know everyone's favorite movie is Groundhog Day with Bill Murray.
Anyway, cue the adrenaline-boosting guitar riff and bring in those drums and here we go:
Rising up, back from my sleep
Did my time, took my long nap
Hibernated, now I’m back on my feet
Just a rodent and his will to survive
It’s the eye of the groundhog
It’s the thrill of the light
Rising up to the challenge of the winter
And if he does see his shadow
Then it’s back to the burrow
Where he’ll be watching us all with the eye of the groundhog
Resume the aforementioned guitar riff...the eye of the groundhog....the eye of the groundhog...
2022 is the Year of the Tiger as were 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, and 2010. People born under this Chinese zodiac sign are said to be confident, loyal and trustworthy while at the same time being arrogant, impatient and impetuous. As you look around the office (or Zoom screen) any guesses at which of your co-workers might have been born in one of these years?
The tiger is one of the most popular college mascots with Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Missouri and Princeton being some of the more well known universities to share that moniker. And let’s not forget MLB’s Detroit Tigers who have been in existence since at least 1894, joining the American League when it was formed in 1901. The National League on the other hand was formed in 1876, just about a decade after JW Hampton was founded in 1865.
Other well-loved tigers include Tigger the tiger who was first introduced in the 1928 story collection The House at Pooh Corner which was A.A. Milne’s sequel to the 1926 book Winnie-the-Pooh and Tony the Tiger who has been promoting Frosted Flakes' sugar fix since 1952.
Just like Tony, we think you're GRRRRRRREAT!
As a significant part of our industry and our world celebrates the Chinese and Lunar New Year holidays, we want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who continues to make JW Hampton a great company today. For over 156 years, we have had the good fortune of having loyal customers who have become friends, dependable employees who have become like family, and reliable business partners in the trucking, warehousing, forwarding, and related fields that have become close personal colleagues despite the geographical distances between our companies. Thank you for allowing JW Hampton to share in your company's success
