The $800 De Minimis Exemption Has Ended

As of today, the US has officially eliminated the de minimis exemption that allowed goods under $800 to enter duty-free with minimal Customs oversight.

What this means:
• All international shipments are now subject to import duties and Customs clearance
• The change targets fentanyl trafficking, counterfeit goods, and unfair trade practices
• E-commerce platforms like Temu, Shein, and Etsy sellers are already impacted
• U.S. consumers can expect higher prices on small imported goods

How businesses are responding:
• Shifting from cross-border DTC to bulk imports and domestic fulfillment
• Reassessing 3PL partnerships, Customs compliance, and sourcing strategies
